The Axessindia Consultancy Group is based and registered in Canberra, Australia. Its primary objective is to facilitate entry of foreign business entities into the Indian market. The Group comprises a network of internationally based Associates each with professional interest in varied economic sectors. The current stable of Associates is being gradually expanded to include others from Singapore, China, Germany and elsewhere as appropriate.
Rakesh Ahuja, Managing Associate, Australia
Rakesh, a Chartered Accountant and educated at the Australian National University, served thirty years with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His diplomatic postings included China, Thailand, Lebanon, the then Soviet Union, Vietnam and India. As Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi, his brief was to promote Australia-India political, economic and cultural relations.
Subsequently, as a Consultant, Rakesh represented the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Australia as Director, and served on the Australia-India Business Council. In 2007, he was commissioned by the Australian Federal Government to formulate a strategy for promoting Australia – India economic relations, the Closer Integration With India Study. He headed 2008 – 09, the Representative Office in India of Anglo Coal Australia Pty. Ltd. (a subsidiary of the Anglo American Plc. Group).
Rakesh’s current focus is to nurture commercial initiatives between Australia and India, particularly in the energy sector: M&A ventures in the Australian uranium sector; exports of fossil and fissile fuels to India; and solar power technology transfer. An associated objective is to develop a skilled, vocational workforce pipeline in both directions. In 2014-2015, he was Senior Advisor India to the Government of South Australia.
